Carlson’s bat, arm lead to A-R-C Player of the Week accolades

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After a standout week at the plate and a strong showing on the mound, Drew Carlson has been named American Rivers Conference Position Player of the Week.

Carlson hit .500 (12-for-24) across a 4-2 week for the Storm, tallying five doubles for a .708 slugging percentage. He scored 10 times, drove in eight runs, and reached base at a .567 clip. With his first hit on Saturday, Carlson joined Simpson's 100-hit club.

In addition to his offensive performance, Carlson contributed on the mound in Simpson's doubleheader sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan. He earned the win in game two, tossing 5.0 innings while allowing just one unearned run on one hit. Carlson struck out a career-high seven batters in the outing.

Carlson is the latest Storm player to earn conference recognition this season, joining Easton Dunwoody, Jack Shaffer, and Charlie Thomas, who earned pitcher of the week recognition in back-to-back-to-back weeks.

The Storm (17-10, 8-4 A-R-C) are set to begin the second half of their conference schedule with a single game at Central (13-16, 8-7 A-R-C) tomorrow afternoon.
