Steen, Carlson named Simpson Athletes of the Month for April
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Softball senior Ashlyn Steen and baseball junior Drew Carlson have been selected as the Simpson Athletics Athletes of the Month for April.
Steen continued to pace nationally ranked Simpson softball during a 13-3 month, while Carlson starred both at the plate and on the mound to help Storm baseball win 10 games in April.
- Hit an impressive .600 across a 13-3 month for the Storm
- Collected 11 extra-base hits and drove in 15 runs
- Walked 10 times, stole 18 bases and scored 27 runs
- Reached base safely in every game and recorded 10 multi-hit games
- Named conference player of the week on April 20
- Batted .406 with 10 multi-hit games and nine extra-base hits
- Drove in 14 runs and scored 22 times to help the Storm to 10 wins
- Drew 14 walks, was hit by pitch three times, and stole two bases
- Earned two victories on the mound, striking out 12 batters across 12.1 innings
- Garnered conference and national player of the week recognition on April 13 and 15
