Offsides call swings momentum as Storm drop 2-0 decision

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Despite controlling much of the match, the Simpson women's soccer team came up short in a 2-0 loss to UW-Platteville on Saturday morning at Buxton Stadium.

The Storm (3-2-1) and Pioneers (5-1) went into halftime scoreless after a back-and-forth first period. Simpson appeared to break through midway through the second half, but a potential go-ahead goal was waved off due to an offsides call. UW-Platteville responded immediately, finding the net on its next possession to take a 1-0 lead before adding a second tally just minutes later.

Simpson generated the bulk of the chances, outshooting the Pioneers 21-10 and holding a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal. However, UW-Platteville goalkeeper Sophia Vriesema turned away every Storm attempt to secure the shutout.

Ally Hoffa led the Storm with five shots on goal, attempting seven overall.
