Kehrli named wrestler of the week after defending league title

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Junior Keeley Kehrli has been selected as the American Rivers Conference Wrestler of the Week following her championship performance at the A-R-C Championships.

Kehrli captured the 160-pound conference title for the second consecutive year, improving to 23-2 this season and extending her current win streak to 19 matches. The No. 6-ranked wrestler opened the tournament with a bye before earning back-to-back pins in the quarterfinals and semifinals, needing just 46 combined seconds to advance to the title bout.

In the championship match, Kehrli edged No. 9 Alexandra Hofrichter of Dubuque, 8-7, to secure the crown and her second straight conference championship.

The weekly honor is the second of the season for Kehrli, following her recognition on Nov. 24.
