Simpson collects 35-13 victory over Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Simpson College women's wrestling team earned a decisive 35-13 dual victory over Augustana on Sunday, piling up eight bonus-point wins to control the matchup from start to finish.

The Storm (1-3) generated five technical falls to go with a pair of pins and a forfeit.

Simpson opened the dual with momentum as No. 4 Emaline Hicks (103) set the tone with a fall over Mia Vazquez in 2:35. Sarah Zimmerman (110) followed with a 10-0 technical fall against Jo Orozco, extending Simpson's early lead.

At 117, Layla Phillips added another pin for the Storm, sticking Gwen Burbridge in 1:36, while Ashley Cannon (124) kept the pressure on with a 12-2 technical fall over Hannah Suboni-Kaufman.

Augustana picked up its first points at 131, but Simpson quickly responded with a run of dominant performances. Paige Gershmel (138) earned an 11-0 technical fall, followed by No. 9 Annelise Obermark (145) with an 11-1 tech fall and No. 9 Keeley Kehrli (160) with a 12-1 technical fall.

Jenna Joseph (180) secured a win by forfeit before Augustana (2-3) closed the dual with a fall at 207.
