Ashlyn Steen selected as NFCA All-American

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In the midst of battling for a National Championship, Ashlyn Steen was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a second team All-American on Wednesday.

Steen becomes only the second Storm in program history to be named to three All-American teams, joining three-time first team selection Kelly Schade (1997-99). Steen was a two-time third team honoree in 2024 and 2025.

Simpson currently sits 39-6 on the year and has reached the Women's College World Series for the first time since the Storm's 1999 National Championship season. Simpson takes on Mount Union in the opening round of the bracket on Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m. CDT.

Ashlyn Steen, second team

  • Senior centerfielder from Mount Vernon, Iowa
  • Ranks tied for third in the NCAA Division-III in runs (68), 8th in on-base percentage (.593) and triples (8), 11th in stolen bases (44), 14th in batting average (.507), and tied for 17th in hits (71).
  • Her 44 stolen bases set a new program record for most steals in a single season, becoming the first Storm to break the 40-mark
  • In 140 at-bats, collected 12 doubles, five home runs, 30 RBIs, and 20 walks to only seven strike outs
  • Collected at least one hit in 39 of Simpson's 45 games, reaching a season-best 19-game hit streak
  • Recorded 22 multi-hit games with a season-long five multi-hit game streak
  • Voted the 2026 A-R-C Position Player of the Year
  • Was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Winona Super Regionals
  • Voted to the Indianola Regional All-Tournament team
  • Selected first team A-R-C All-Conference
  • Named the American Rivers Player of the Week once on April, 20
  • Selected to the mid-season NFCA Division III Pitcher and Players of the Year watchlist
