No. 12 Simpson fires past Keene State to keep momentum rolling
CLERMONT, Fla. - Despite a rain delay that forced a three-day delay, 12th-ranked Simpson continued to stay hot at the plate, routing Keene State 11-3 on Thursday.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- After a first inning run for Keene State, Simpson responded by capitalizing on an error and scoring Ashlyn Steen to tie up the ballgame.
- The game was halted due to rain in the second inning for a couple days but the delay did not stop the Storm offense.
- Megan Heidelbauer put the Storm on top in the third with a single to left, and the speed of Steen on the basepaths scored on the play.
- Keene State used a solo shot in the fourth, and an RBI single up the middle to take back a 3-2 lead.
- The lead proved to be short lived as Brielyn Ginnaty homered in the fourth, and Cheyenne Jones drove in the eventual game-winning run on an RBI single.
- After a Mackenzie James RBI double in the fifth made it 5-3, Simpson poured it on in the sixth with six more runs.
- RBI hits from Jones, James, and Katie Shaner highlighted the inning as Simpson rolled past Keene State 11-3.
