Storm drop Music City Classic opener to DePauw

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Simpson College women's basketball team dropped an 80-60 decision to DePauw on Friday night in the opening game of the Music City Classic.

Maddax DeVault sparked the Storm early, scoring 13 of her team-high 21 points in the first half to keep Simpson (4-4) within striking distance. DePauw used a decisive 17-5 run late in the second quarter to create separation, carrying a 47-28 advantage into halftime.

The Tigers (5-4) maintained control after the break, edging Simpson 18-17 in the third quarter before matching the Storm point-for-point in the fourth to seal the win. DePauw finished with 10 made 3-pointers and held a 44-31 rebounding advantage, preventing Simpson from mounting a second-half rally.
