Second half dominance leads Simpson to win over Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. – A dominating second half 30-to-5 run propelled Simpson past Nebraska Wesleyan 61-40 on Wednesday night for the Storm's third win in A-R-C action.

Nebraska Wesleyan (3-11, 0-5 A-R-C) used an 11-2 run to break open a lead before Simpson (7-6, 3-1 A-R-C) managed to tie the score at the end of the quarter on three quick baskets. After a strong offensive first quarter, the defenses stepped up in the second. On eight made field goals from both sides over the ten minutes, Simpson outscored the Prairie Wolves 12-10 to take a two point lead into halftime.

The Prairie Wolves connected on two early 3-pointers to start the third quarter and regain the lead. Simpson responded with 11 straight points, five coming from Ella Anderson, en route to a larger 17-2 run and a double-digit lead.

The Storm continued the run into the fourth quarter, ultimately outscoring the Prairie Wolves 30-5 as Simpson rolled to the 61-40 win. Over the final 17 minutes of action, Simpson held NWU to only one made field goal on 15 attempts, while forcing 14 turnovers. Meanwhile, the Storm shot 10-for-15 from the field with nine steals.
