Storm celebrate Senior Day with home win over Spartans

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 72-65 win over Dubuque on Saturday afternoon inside Cowles Fieldhouse.

Six different players scored in the opening quarter as the Storm (12-11, 8-6 A-R-C) took an 18-16 lead after one. The game remained tight throughout the first half before Dubuque (4-19, 2-12 A-R-C) used an 11-0 run late in the second quarter to claim a 37-34 halftime advantage.

Simpson responded out of the break, scoring eight straight points to open the third quarter and regain the lead for good. The Storm carried a 51-45 edge into the fourth and extended the margin to as many as 13 with 3:33 remaining. Simpson went 7-for-8 at the charity stripe in the final minutes, with senior Maddax DeVault knocking down all six of her attempts to secure the win.

Both teams shot over 50.0 percent from the floor. Simpson won the turnover battle 26-10, scoring 24 points off the Spartan miscues.
