Storm opens three-game road stretch with convincing win at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Balanced scoring and efficient shooting carried the Simpson College women's basketball team to the decisive 84-52 victory over Dubuque to open a three-game road swing.

The Storm (9-7, 5-2 A-R-C) shot 56.7 percent from the floor and used a dominant 22-4 second quarter to take control, leading by as many as 37 points in the second half. Six players scored more than six points, and over half of Simpson's offense came from the bench.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Storm jumped out to a 12-4 lead and finished the frame ahead 16-13, shooting 50% from the floor.
  • Simpson's efficiency only increased in the second and third as the Storm knocked down 10 of 17 shots in the second (58.8) and 13 of 17 shots in the third (76.5) for a 67-32 advantage.
  • Maddax DeVault scored 11 of her game-high 21 points in the third quarter, while Keira McCormick chipped in eight of her 12 points. Together, the duo was 9-for-11 in the period.
  • The Spartans (4-12, 2-5 A-R-C) edged the Storm 20-17 in the fourth.
