Dickson leads three Storm to American Rivers All-Conference team

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Defenses struggled all season long to contain the lethal goal scorer as Mitchell Dickson led three Storm to the American Rivers All-Conference team on Friday.

Dickson was named to the American Rivers All-Conference first team after powering Simpson's attack nearly all season long. The senior led the team with 10 goals scored, which finished as tied for second most in the conference. The award marks the second of his collegiate career after being named to the honorable mention team last season.

Joining Dickson on the All-Conference team as honorable mentions was junior goalie Nate Hersom and junior defender Tate Downs. The two helped lead Simpson's backline to seven shutouts on the season, the most since 2019 for the team.

Hersom accounted for five of the shutouts, leading to four wins, and seven draws in net. His 68 saves on the season were third most in the conference. Downs started all eight matches for Simpson in conference action and collected an assist on the game-winning goal to help beat Dubuque 1-0 down the stretch.

Overall on the year, Simpson finished with a 5-7-8 record and went 2-3-3 in American Rivers action. Simpson claimed its 14th straight berth to the A-R-C Tournament before falling to three-seed Loras in the opening round.
