INDIANOLA, Iowa - For the second straight night, the Simpson men's soccer team battled to a hard fought draw, blanking Illinois College 0-0.
Nate Hersom got his second straight start in net, and posted his first clean sheet of the young season. The junior saw 11 shots on the night, with eight finding the goal but Hersom collected all eight to lead the Storm's defense. The back-to-back draws to open the year marks the first time in program history since 1996.
Zach Kline, who scored the equalizer in yesterday's match, once again led the offensive push for Simpson. Kline finished with four of the team's eight shots, and ended with one shot on goal. Iain Macrae, Allan Martinez, and Mitchell Dickson all recorded one shot on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
