Storm fall to Wis.-Platteville on the road

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Wisconsin-Platteville used two early goals to power past Simpson 3-0 to wrap up the Storm's road trip on Saturday afternoon.

Wisconsin-Platteville (3-0-1) connected on the first goal in the ninth minute of the match to give the Pioneers the early lead. In the 23rd minute, the Pioneers were awarded a penalty kick and converted on the attempt for a 2-0 lead they carried into halftime.

Simpson (1-2-2) held the Pioneers' attack in check for most of the second half until Platteville capitalized on a shot in the 72nd minute to open up a 3-0 lead. Simpson connected on three shots throughout the match, with attempts coming from Tim Sedlock, Omar Amer and Romeo Alvarez, but was unable to find the net.

Nate Hersom got the start in goal, seeing 24 shots on the day, and making eight saves. Hersom increased his total saves on the year to 22 in four matches.
