GRINNELL, Iowa - Simpson rolled past Grinnell 3-0 on goals from Iain Macrae and Allan Martinez to secure the first win of the 2025 season on Wednesday.
Macrae wasted no time in putting Simpson (1-1-2) on the board, striking with his first goal of the year in just the third minute of the match. The Storm continued to pressure Grinnell (0-1-2) for the rest of the half with three more shots and entered halftime with a 1-0 lead.
The Storm began to pull away in the second half after Martinez connected on a goal from the left side on a ball from Zach Kline in the middle, setting up Martinez perfectly. Just a minute later Martinez struck again for his second goal, this time on an assist from Mitchell Dickson. The two second half goals from Martinez gave Simpson all the insurance needed to safely cruise to a commanding 3-0 road win.
Simpson's backline allowed only one shot all match, with none reaching goal as the Storm gave keeper Mason Chaplin his first clean sheet of the year, and second on the season for the team.
