INDIANOLA, Iowa - Taking on the top team in the conference, Wartburg, Simpson forced a key draw to keep itself right in the middle of the playoff hunt on Saturday night.
In front of a homecoming and senior day crowd, the Storm did not disappoint the fans. A first half goal from Tim Sedlock, his first of the season, provided the lone offense of the match for a majority of the game. Sedlock punched in his goal off the assist from Jack Hoopes in the 40th minute to give Simpson the lead right before halftime.
The defense of the Storm kept the Wartburg offense in check for most of the match, holding onto the lead heading into the final 10 minutes. However, the Knights managed to equalize the match in the 82nd minute. Despite the late surge from the Knights, the Storm continued to hold off the attack to clinch a key draw and point in the standings.
With the draw, the Storm moved to 2-3-3 in conference action for a total of nine points. The nine points puts the Storm in sixth in the conference and in the final spot for the A-R-C Tournament. However, the Storm will have to wait to hear their name called for the A-R-C Tournament until the final matches on Tuesday are completed. Coe sits three points back in the standings with a match against fifth-seed Nebraska Wesleyan on Tuesday night.
