Kehrli advances to day two of NCWWC Championships

CORALVILLE, Iowa – No. 10 Keeley Kehrli will be back on the mat Saturday after a strong first day at the NCWWC Championships, earning two wins and positioning herself one step closer to All-American status.

Kehrli opened her tournament with a victory by injury default before securing a dominant tech fall win over No. 7 Lene McCrackin of Simon Fraser in the second round. She battled hard in the quarterfinals but fell to No. 2 Kaylynn Albrecht (McKendree). Despite the setback, Kehrli remains in contention for All-American honors, needing just one more win on Saturday to clinch a spot on the podium.

The rest of the Storm lineup battled through a long opening day, with several wrestlers picking up wins but ultimately falling short of advancing. Sarah Zimmerman (110) and Breanna Wier (160) led the group with two victories each, while Layla Phillips (110), Ashley Cannon (124), Dionni Garcia-Vasquez (131), Paige Gershmel (138), and Annelise Obermark (145) each recorded one win.
