Cannon garners program’s first A-R-C Wrestler of the Week award

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After going 4-1 at the Lindenwood Duals, sophomore Ashley Cannon has been named the American Rivers Conference Women's Wrestler of the Week.

Cannon becomes the first Simpson wrestler to achieve the weekly award from the conference, which is in its first year sponsoring women's wrestling.

The sophomore from Saratoga Springs, Utah helped Simpson to a 3-2 record at the Lindenwood Duals on Sunday. After earning a forfeit in a 52-7 win over Eureka, she earned back-to-back technical falls against Allison Meyer of Lindenwood and Isla Baeza of Missouri Valley. She rounded out the day with a pin over Quincy's Autumn Van Bremen after suffering her only loss of the day to third-ranked Shelby Moore of McKendree.

Ranked No. 10 in the latest NWCA poll, Cannon is now 12-1 on the year.

The Storm will now head north to participate in the 8 Women Battle on Nov. 23.
