Women’s volleyball moves to 6-1 with wins over Vikings, Royals

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Simpson College women's volleyball team improved to 6-1 on the year with a pair of wins over (RV) North Park and Bethel on Saturday.

The Storm grinded out their first five-set victory of the year against North Park (25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 15-5) before closing their weekend in River Falls with a 3-1 victory over Bethel (19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23).

Simpson hit .223 as a team with 102 kills across nine sets, led by Jada Schmidt's 33 and Peyton Mitchell's 28. Mitchell also tallied seven of the Storm's 20 aces and 11 of the team's 22 blocks. Hannah Jansen led the squad with 35 digs, while Morgan DenBeste and Lauren Dockendorff split setting duties, combining for 79 assists.

With a 6-1 record, the Storm are off to their best start since 2013.

The Storm head to St. Paul for a trio of matches. Simpson will face Caltech on Friday night followed by a pair of rematches with Macalester and Bethany Lutheran.
