Storm come up short in A-R-C Semifinal
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Simpson College women's volleyball team saw its breakthrough 2025 campaign come to a close Thursday night, falling to No. 2-seed Coe in the American Rivers Conference Semifinals.
The Storm (19-8) battled wire to wire in every frame, dropping the opener 25-20 after a late 6-0 Kohawk surge and nearly stealing the second after building a 23-19 lead. Coe (20-9) clawed back to force extras and edged out a 26-24 win to take a 2-0 match advantage.
In the third, the teams traded points to an 8-8 tie before another timely 5-0 Coe run created just enough separation. Simpson mounted one last push, pulling within striking distance late, but the Kohawks held on 25-21 to advance.
Simpson concludes the year with a 19-8 overall record, the most wins since 2009 and the highest win percentage since 2006. The Storm achieved their highest regular season conference finish since 2010, secured their highest tournament seeding since 2009, and advanced to the conference semifinals for just the second time in the last 15 seasons.
