DenBeste’s triple-doubles, Mitchell’s blocks sweep A-R-C weekly honors
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After a week filled with triple-doubles and block dominance, Simpson women's volleyball swept the American Rivers Conference weekly awards as Peyton Mitchell was named Defensive Player of the Week and Morgan DenBeste earned Offensive Player of the Week as well as overall Female Athlete of the Week.
DenBeste fueled the Storm offense with four triple-doubles and 64.5 points, while Mitchell anchored the defense with 23 blocks and 60.0 points. Simpson went 3-1 on the week with wins over Grinnell, Webster, and Concordia Wisconsin, along with a five-set battle against No. 7 WashU. The Storm's 11-3 start marks their best record through 14 matches since 2013.
Morgan DenBeste – A-R-C Offensive Player of the Week and A-R-C Female Athlete of the Week
DenBeste was electric across Simpson's 3-1 week, turning in triple-doubles in all four matches, all of the kills-assists-digs variety. She paced the Storm with 52 kills, 10 aces, and 64.5 points, and now leads all of Division III with six triple-doubles on the season.
Peyton Mitchell – A-R-C Defensive Player of the Week
Mitchell dominated the net with 23 total rejections, continuing her hold as the A-R-C leader in blocks. She added steady offense as well, finishing just one kill shy of double figures in every match. Between her kills, blocks, and aces, Mitchell totaled 60.0 points, second only to DenBeste for the week.
