Jansen's defense garners A-R-C Female Athlete of the Week recognition

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After anchoring Simpson's defense in a pair of five-set victories, Hannah Jansen has been named the American Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Week as well as the league's Female Athlete of the Week.

Jansen was a difference maker in the back row as the Storm outlasted both Central and Nebraska Wesleyan, averaging 5.7 digs per set with 27 digs against the Dutch and 30 against the Prairie Wolves. Her consistency helped hold both opponents to their second-lowest hitting efficiencies of the season.

With the two wins, Simpson improved to 3-0 in the conference for the first time since 2009.

This is the third straight week a Storm volleyball player has earned conference recognition. Morgan DenBeste and Peyton Mitchell swept the offensive and defensive honors two weeks ago, while Jada Schmidt claimed last week's offensive award.

The Storm step out of conference action to take on RV North Park and RV Wis.-Platteville on Friday in Wisconsin.
