Schmidt shines in middle, earns conference weekly honor
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After a standout showing in the Storm's league opener, Jada Schmidt has been named the American Rivers Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Making her first start in the middle, Schmidt delivered in a big way, recording her second career double-double with 12 kills and a career-high 12 digs in a 3-1 victory at Buena Vista. She was sharp at the net, hitting .524 with just one error in 21 attempts, and rounded out her stat line with a solo block, two assists, and a service ace.
The honor is Schmidt's first career A-R-C weekly award. She becomes the third Storm player to earn conference recognition this fall, joining teammates Morgan DenBeste and Peyton Mitchell, who swept the awards just last week.
With the win over BVU, Simpson improved to 12-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Storm continue A-R-C action at home this week, hosting Central on Wednesday and Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday.
