Slorah places fifth at Region VI Championships

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Carson Slorah battled back through the consolation bracket to secure a fifth place finish at 285 pounds, highlighting Simpson's performance at the NCAA Region VI Championships.

Slorah advanced to the quarterfinals with a first-round fall before dropping into the consolation bracket after a loss to No. 1 Mitch Williamson (Wartburg). From there, he put together a strong run, earning a technical fall and a sudden victory decision to move into the consolation semifinals. He closed his tournament with a fall over Central's Jamal Neeway in the fifth place match.

At 157 pounds, Noel Torres picked up two falls in the consolation bracket, including an 18-second pin, before being eliminated one round shy of placing. Trey Kellow also recorded two falls at 165 pounds in consolation action.

Mazin Arafa earned a technical fall at 174 pounds, while Caden Elliott and Troy Galloway each notched pins at 184 and 197, respectively. Easton Biladeau added a technical fall at 149 pounds.

Simpson ended 10th in the 18-team field, amassing 38.5 team points.
