Jackson leads Simpson at Central Under Armour Invitational
PELLA, Iowa – The Simpson College men's wrestling team turned in multiple strong individual performances at the Central Under Armour Invitational on Saturday, led by Connor Jackson's runner-up finish in the silver division at 157 pounds.
Jackson delivered Simpson's top result of the day, advancing to the finals with a pair of wins. He opened with a pin of Northwestern's Landon Price in 4:05, then followed with an 11-6 decision over Dickinson State's Tucker Fiene before falling 16-6 in the championship bout.
Simpson also had two third-place finishers in Easton Biladeau (149) and Carson Slorah (285). Biladeau earned three wins on the day, posting decisions of 11-3 and 8-3 along with a 15-0 technical fall. Slorah secured third with 13-3 and 4-1 victories, with his lone setback coming in a tightly contested overtime semifinal against Augsburg's Jacob Schimek.
Trey Kellow rebounded from an early overtime loss in the quarterfinals, dropping an 8-5 decision to Grand View's Kaleb Cordova, before responding with 16-6 and 5-0 wins to finish sixth at 165 pounds.
Troy Galloway (197) and Zaydin Sanchez (133) each placed fourth after opening-match wins, while Mazin Arafa (174) claimed fifth by winning his final three matches of the day, including a 9-6 sudden victory over Central's Garrett Kingery and a pin of Nebraska Wesleyan's Logan Hede in 3:21.
