Simpson clinches team title behind long’s runner-up finish

FORT DODGE, Iowa - Behind Kaylin Long's medalist runner-up performance, Simpson women's golf claimed the title at the Iowa Central Spring Invite by just two strokes.

Long posted another consistent tournament, shooting 80 and following up with a 79 to place second overall in the field with a total score of 159. Ella Heyer finished second on the team and 10th overall with a total score of 166 after dropping four strokes off her game from round one to round two.

Addison Brink (168) and Joann Martin (169) placed 12th and 14th respectively in the field and third and fourth on the team. Kristen Roe saw the largest improvement, dropping 10 strokes off her game in the second round with an 82 to help Simpson take over the top spot in the tournament.

Simpson claimed its second championship this spring and fourth on the year, winning the tournament by two strokes over Briar Cliff. The Storm also picked up wins over A-R-C opponents Loras and Buena Vista.
