Storm shoot record breaking round; win the Waldorf Fall Challenge
LAKE MILLS, Iowa - History was set for the Storm at the Waldorf Fall Challenge, as the Storm broke the program record for lowest single round score with a 320 score on Monday.
Simpson secured its second straight tournament title as a team, winning the one-day event by 11 strokes over Buena Vista. Highlighted by top-five performances from Kaylin Long, Tessa Rounds, and Laura Klaessy, the Storm broke the program record set at the 2009 IIAC Championships, where Simpson scored 322.
Long led the way with a second place finish at 77, where she played just one-over par on the back nine thanks to an eagle on 15, and a birdie on 10. Rounds followed right up with a 78, placing her fourth on the leaderboard, while Klaessy's 80 placed her third on the team and fifth overall. Addison Brink and Joann Martin wrapped up the scorecard for the Storm with 85 and 88 respectively.
Competing on the second Storm team, Anna Curley put together a strong performance, leading the way with an 84 for eighth overall in the field. Ella Heyer, Kristen Roe, and Ashlyn Buntin rounded out the team, where Simpson carded 363 overall to place fifth in the field.
