Long wins individual title, leads Simpson to win at RedTail Spring Shootout
WATERLOO, Iowa - Kaylin Long paced the field, winning the RedTail Spring Shootout with a season-low 76 and led Simpson to the team title to begin the spring season.
Long played near par golf on the opening nine with a birdie on three, and followed up three-over par on the back nine with another birdie on 12. Joann Martin finished with a top-five performance, shooting 83 with two birdies on three and 16.
Anna Curley and Addison Brink, who scored an eagle on five, tied for eighth in the field with scores of 85 while Laura Klaessy rounded out the scorecard with an 87. Kristen Roe playing as an individual placed second overall in the tournament at 80 with an eagle on a par-4 four hole. Individuals Ella Heyer (85) and Ashlyn Buntin (92) closed out the eight Storm competing on the day.
As a team, Simpson outdueled fellow A-R-C opponent Coe, winning the tournament by three strokes at 329 overall.
