Storm women's golf poised for strong 2025 season

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Headlined by a strong returning core of golfers, the Simpson women's golf team aims to take a strong leap forward in 2025.

The team finished seventh in the American Rivers Conference preseason coaches poll on Thursday. Dubuque collected eight of the nine first place votes and paced the pack in the polling with 64 points. Central, Coe, and Wartburg all finished within one point of each other for second through fourth, with Wartburg claiming the final first place vote. Buena Vista, Loras, Simpson, Nebraska Wesleyan and Luther rounded out the poll.

For Simpson, the season is set to begin this upcoming weekend at the Kohawk Invitational on Saturday, August 30. The Storm will then travel to the Wartburg Fall Invite, and Duhawk Invitational before hosting the Simpson Fall Invite on Wednesday September 17 at the Indianola country club.

The three-day A-R-C Championships are set to begin on Saturday, October 4 with the final round on Monday, October 6.

2024 IN REVIEW

  • Simpson claimed four top-three finishes as a team, including a team victory at the Waldorf Fall Challenge along with a second-place mark at the Simpson fall invite.
  • Madeline Streicher led the Storm in scoring average, finishing the year with an 83.7 average over 14 rounds.
  • Three golfers, Kaylin Long, Addison Brink, and Kristen Roe, played in all 16 rounds for Simpson, with Long leading the pack with an 86.3 scoring average.
  • Four golfers earned a spot on the A-R-C Academic All-Conference team, along with Long and Streicher being named to the CSC Academic All-District team.
