Jones claims title, sets program record on floor at league championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Braxton Jones won the floor title with a school-record 13.900 and the Simpson College men's gymnastics team produced five all-conference finishes at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.

Jones won floor with a career-best 13.900, marking one of four top-two finishes for the Storm. He also added a runner-up finish on vault with a 14.000 to earn all-conference recognition in two events.

Brian Rollison (rings) and Paul Tiedemann (high bar) each secured second-place finishes to join Jones on the all-conference list. Rollison posted a 13.650 on still rings, while Tiedemann scored a 13.250 on high bar. Noah Doiron rounded out Simpson's all-conference honorees with a sixth-place finish in the all-around, totaling 71.150.

As a team, Simpson posted a season-high 52.400 on floor behind Jones' title-winning routine, while vault added a 52.900 to pace the Storm's top team scores of the meet. The Storm also placed third on still rings with a 50.100.

Additional strong performances included Garrett Alexander's 13.450 on floor and William Bacus' 13.100 on pommel horse, both finishing among the top 10.

Greenville won the team race with a 313.200, followed closely behind by Navy (312.000) and Army (312.050). William & Mary (310.450) finished fourth, Springfield (308.100) took fifth, and Simpson (300.150) came in sixth.

Along with his all-conference medal, Rollison was voted this year's recipient of the ECAC Routine of the Year for his rings performance at the USA Gymnastics Championships. Milo Staley was presented one of the league's Sportsmanship Awards.
