Storm break school record in debut of new facility

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Competing inside its new home for the first time, the Simpson College men's gymnastics team delivered a historic performance, posting a program-record 303.200 against Army.

The Black Knights edged the Storm with a score of 303.350, with each team winning three events in the tightly contested battle. Simpson claimed victories on still rings, vault, and parallel bars, while Army took first on floor, pommel horse, and high bar.

Along with the top all-around score under the current scoring system, Simpson set program records on rings (52.000) and parallel bars (50.100). Individually, Tristan Shorey turned in the highest parallel bars score by a Storm gymnast with a 13.300.

Simpson garnered 12 top-3 medals overall, including five first place finishes. Brian Rollison took home the gold on rings, Braxton Jones won vault, Tristan Shorey topped the field on parallel bars, and Jake Smith and Paul Tiedemann tied for first on high bar. Alex Campbell added a second place finish on rings.

Jake Smith tied for third on floor and vault, while Kenny Rabe earned third outright on parallel bars. Sterling Pariza tied for third on floor, William Bacus tied for third on pommel horse, and Oskar Silverman claimed third on rings.
