Men’s gymnastics competes at West Point Open
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Simpson College men's gymnastics team traveled east for a two-day test at the West Point Open this weekend.
Simpson compiled a team score of 294.300 on Friday night, finishing just 0.300 points behind William and Mary for sixth place. The Storm's strongest rotation of the meet came on still rings, where Simpson placed third as a team with a score of 49.350
Individually, Brian Rollison and Jake Smith earned spots in Saturday night's event finals. Rollison recorded the fourth-highest score on still rings, while Smith qualified with the seventh-best mark on vault. However, inclement weather forced the Storm to withdraw from the remainder of the competition prior to the finals session.
Simpson turned in several additional top-10 performances on the night. Oskar Silverman tied for seventh on rings with a score of 12.450, while William Bacus and Alex Campbell tied for 10th on pommel horse and rings, respectively.
Penn State claimed the team title with a score of 313.500, followed by Army (306.650), Navy (302.550), and Springfield (301.000).
