Simpson places third with season-high score
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Simpson College men's gymnastics team recorded its highest team score of the season Saturday, placing third at the Nebraska Quadrangular with a 298.950.
The Storm's performance was fueled by multiple season-best scores and top-five individual finishes. Brian Rollison tied for second on still rings, Braxton Jones earned fourth on vault and posted a season-high on floor, and the team set a high bar school record with a 50.350.
Nebraska claimed the team title with a 319.650, followed by Greenville in second with a 309.400. Simpson finished ahead of William & Mary (296.050), achieving its first win over an NCAA program in school history.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Brian Rollison tied for second on still rings with a 13.550, securing Simpson's highest placement of the meet. Alex Campbell added a fifth-place score of 12.950 as Simpson produced a season-high 50.650.
- Simpson set a high bar school record with a team score of 50.350. Jake Smith led with a 12.750, followed by Paul Tiedemann (12.650), Eric Simon (12.500), and Rollison (12.450).
- Braxton Jones claimed fourth on vault with 13.800 and recorded a season-high 13.300 on floor, joined by Jake Smith (13.100) and Garrett Alexander (13.000) as the Storm notched a season-best 50.550.
- Kenny Rabe tied for fourth on parallel bars with 12.600, fueling Simpson to a season-best 48.500.
- Alexander contributed a strong 12.400 on pommel horse to round out the top team performances.
