Storm capture five individual titles, set pommel horse record in Virginia

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Simpson men's gymnastics team captured five individual titles and set a new program record on pommel horse in Saturday's road dual against William & Mary.

Garrett Alexander (floor), Brian Rollison (rings), Jake Smith (vault), and Paul Tiedemann (high bar) each claimed event titles for the Storm, while Noah Doiron added another victory by winning the all-around with a score of 71.600.

Simpson's most notable performance came on pommel horse to open the meet. The Storm posted a program-record 52.300, defeating William & Mary on the apparatus and surpassing the previous school record by nearly two full points. Every Storm routine was a career high, led by Alexander and William Bacus, who tied for second with matching 13.300 scores, the second-highest by a Simpson gymnast in the current scoring quad.

Simpson also claimed the team win on still rings behind Rollison's season-high 13.900, the second-highest score of his career. Alexander won floor with a career-high 13.250, Smith earned the top spot on vault with a career-best 14.000, and Tiedemann closed out the Storm's event titles on high bar wtih a 13.250, his second-highest score on the apparatus.

The Tribe claimed the overall victory, 307.550-301.200.
