Storm stay hot: four top-10 marks highlight big day in the throws

PELLA, Iowa - Simpson's throwers continued the hot start to the outdoor season, setting four new top-10 marks in the discus and hammer as the Storm competed against Central on Thursday.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

• Olivia Merrill won both the shot put and discus, but it was the discus where she shined the most. Merrill's mark of 41.63m marked the fourth best in school history and became only the fifth Storm ever to reach the 40-meter mark.
• Ava Tichy won the hammer and followed up Merrill in second place in the discus, setting top-10 marks in both events. Her 36.22m in the discus was the seventh best in program history, while her 38.17m in the hammer marked the eighth best.
• Maddy Berg bested her career best in the hammer again, this time moving up to ninth all-time in school history in the event at 36.46m.
