Simpson tops field in Friday tri-meet
MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Simpson College women's gymnastics team finished atop the standings in Friday night's tri-meet, posting an 188.875 to Wis.-Stout's 188.550 and Gustavus Adolphus' 182.175.
Entering the final rotation with little room for error, the Storm delivered a 47.950 on vault to edge the host Blue Devils and seal the road win. Simpson finished with event totals of 47.050 on bars, 45.900 on beam, 47.975 on floor, and 47.950 on vault.
The Storm opened on bars with a 47.050, just the second time in program history the team has surpassed 47.000 in the event. Liz Sisler led the lineup with a 9.675 to place third, matching her career high from a week ago. Alexa Denton (9.550) and Evalyn Resnick (9.400) added key scores to the milestone total.
On beam, Rachel Welch paced Simpson with a 9.600 to finish third, followed by Emmie Barton's 9.375.
Simpson gained momentum on floor with a 47.975. Kaelyn Tally claimed the event title with a 9.725, while Bella Dix and Brooklen Morgan tied for second at 9.700. Kaley Bristow added a 9.550, the third-highest score of the meet.
The Storm then turned to vault needing a steady final rotation. Emma Charles delivered a 9.700 to place second, while Tally and Kendall Pinkelman tied for third with matching 9.650s to secure the victory.
