Home runs, Castile's arm lead Simpson past No. 22 Buena Vista

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Trenten Kingrey went yard twice, Bryson Gibson added another, and Trey Castile dealt eight strikeouts across seven shutout innings to propel the Simpson College baseball team to a 7-4 win over Buena Vista, which was ranked No. 22 in the latest NPI rankings.

Kingrey was a force at the plate, accounting for five of Simpson's seven runs. He plated one on a groundout in the first inning, launched a three-run homer in the second, and capped his day with a solo shot in the seventh. Gibson added to the fireworks in the second frame with a two-run homer of his own, helping the Storm (12-18, 6-10 A-R-C) build an early cushion.

On the mound, Castile was in control from the start, scattering just two hits and two walks over seven shutout innings. The right-hander fanned eight batters and silenced a potent Beavers lineup.

The Beavers (24-7, 13-3 A-R-C) made a late rally but Drew Carlson and Dylan Schlee finished things off in relief, combining for three more strikeouts across the final two innings to give Simpson double-digit strikeouts for the 13th time this season.
