No. 25 Beavers overpower Storm in Saturday twinbill sweep

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Facing the top team in the American Rivers Conference, the Simpson College baseball team couldn't keep pace with No. 25 Buena Vista's dominant pitching and explosive offense in Saturday's twinbill, falling 11-1 and 11-4.

The Beavers (24-6, 13-2 A-R-C) plated all 11 of their game one runs between the third and sixth innings, capitalizing on seven hits and several free passes. Simpson (11-18, 5-10 A-R-C) found limited success against one of the league's top arms in Morgan Smith, but broke through in the third with an RBI triple from Drew Carlson, scoring Bryson Gibson after his leadoff double.

Buena Vista kept the pressure on in the nightcap, jumping out to an 11-0 lead on 11 hits and another strong outing from Mark Eddie. Trenten Kingrey and Nate Cagley recorded back-to-back run-scoring hits in the sixth, while Sam Campin added a late highlight with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
