Poor shooting dooms Storm against Norse

DECORAH, Iowa - Tim Dunlavy registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but Simpson couldn't overcome a 24 percent shooting performance in a 68-54 loss Monday night at the Regents Center.

Dane Larson scored a game-high 18 points for the Norse (8-7, 2-5 IIAC), which led by as much as 29 in the second half.

Zack Barragan joined Dunlavy with 13 points for the Storm (4-12, 1-6 IIAC). Barragan's three-pointer at the 3:56 mark capped off a 21-4 second-half run, bringing Simpson within 12 at 59-47.

Simpson couldn't draw closer, however, as the Storm finished with season lows in field goals made (16), field goal percentage (24.2) and three-point percentage (9.1).

Simpson won the second half, outscoring the Norse 36-33 while outrebounding the home team, 46-40. Twenty-three of Simpson's 46 rebounds came at the offensive end of the floor.

Simpson returns to action Wednesday as part of doubleheader at Cowles Fieldhouse against Dubuque. Tipoff of the women's game is set for 6 p.m. with the men's game to follow.
