Craig named IIAC Athlete of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson baseball player Tyler Craig hit .600 and drove in two game-winning runs over the weekend in earning Iowa Conference Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Male Athlete of the Week honors as well as being named IIAC Position Player of the Week for the period ending March 25.

Craig, a sophomore first baseman from Urbandale, Iowa, slugged 1.200 with three doubles, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI as the Storm swept a weekend series with Loras. He had two hits in each game of the three-game set and led the team with four extra-base hits. Craig hit a walk-off double to give the Storm a 3-2 victory in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, then homered to drive in the eventual game-winning run in the series finale on Sunday.

The Storm (9-8, 3-0 IIAC) host Luther in a three-game series March 30-31. The series begins with a single, nine-inning contest Friday night at 6 p.m. with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
