Storm travel to Illinois, fall to St. Ambrose, Quincy

MOLINE, Ill. – The Storm traveled to Illinois this weekend to compete against St. Ambrose on Friday and Quincy on Saturday in a pair of matches. The Storm fell to St. Ambrose in their first match of the weekend 6-1, and they came up short against Quincy on Saturday 7-0. Despite the loss, many of Simpson's competitors put up strong performances against each team.

Against St. Ambrose, Javier Robles Solis defeated his opponent in singles competition. He took the win over Arevale Piraquive 7-6 in his first match of the weekend. Grant Love fought hard in his singles match, coming up just short in extra points. Grant lost 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8). Drake Downard and Blane Wallace each finished with scores of 6-2, 6-2 in their singles competitions as well.

In doubles competition, one of the Simpson squads defeated a St. Ambrose duo. Darek Kayser and Seth Orta defeated Austin Hutton and Cade Timmons of St. Ambrose in a close match of 7-6. Javier Robles Solis and Grant Love fought a close match as well with a 6-4 loss against St. Ambrose.

In the match against Quincy, none of the Storm singles competitors got any victories. Despite the losses, Grand Love, Drake Downard, Darek Kayser, and Seth Orta put up hard-fought efforts against their opponents in singles play. In doubles play, all three of the Storm's doubles competitors fell to Quincy.
