SAINT PAUL, Minn. - In his first collegiate start for the Storm, Calix Cahill posted a double-double as Simpson rolled past Bethel 82-68 to wrap up non-conference action in 2025.

The sophomore forward played in 25 minutes, tallying 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting, while grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds. Levi Gurwell compiled the all-around game, scoring 13 points, while collecting seven rebounds, and a team-leading six assists. Cam Henderson led the way in scoring with 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting, and disrupted the Royals' offense with five steals.

As a team, Simpson finished shooting 33-for-67 (49.3 percent) from the field, 7-for-12 (58.3 percent) beyond the arc, and 9-for-14 at the line. The Storm dominated the boards, outrebounding Bethel 41-to-31 while collecting 10 assists on 11 turnovers and nine steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bethel jumped out to an early 14-8 lead thanks in part to a 9-2 run over a five minute stretch.
  • A Bo Huston 3-pointer broke the scoring drought as Simpson responded with an 11-3 run to put the Storm back on top 19-17 with 8:42 in the first half.
  • The Royals answered back, eventually taking a 10-point lead in the half with just four minutes on the clock.
  • Simpson closed out the half on a 15-0 run, fueled by seven points from Henderson to push the Storm on top 42-37 heading into the locker rooms. Simpson was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, while holding Bethel to 0-for-4 shooting and two turnovers.
  • The Storm continued to add onto the lead out of halftime, starting the half with an 11-4 run to stretch the lead to double-digits.
  • The Royals were able to cut the lead down to six with 6:30 left in the game but the Storm rebounded and secured the win by outscoring Bethel 16-8 down the stretch.
