Women's cross country grabs academic honor
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's cross country team earned 2011 NCAA Division III All-Academic Cross Country status, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
The Storm carried a 3.42 cumulative team grade-point average through the fall semester, boasting five academic all-conference honorees. Seniors Courtney Licht and Signe Mayland, juniors Jayde Boyle and Maddy McAreavy and sophomore Annie Hills all earned academic all-conference recognition following the 2011 season.
The 2011 national champion Washington University of St. Louis Bears were named the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Women's Scholar Team of the Year for 2011.
In order to qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.10 through the 2011 fall semester.
