Simpson receiving votes in USTFCCCA Coaches' Preseason Poll
NEW ORLEANS -- For the second time in program history, the Simpson College men's cross country team is listed in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll after receiving four votes in this year's rankings.
The Storm join the 1986 squad, which finished ninth at the NCAA Division III National Championships, as the only two teams listed on a USTFCCCA National Poll in program history.
This honor comes a day after Simpson was selected seventh in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Preseason Rankings. The Midwest Region is highly represented on the national poll with five squads inside the top 20.
The Storm begin their season Sept. 3 with the Bill Buxton Invitational at Pickard Park. Simpson is on the heels of a third-place finish at the American Rivers Conference Championships last fall for the team's best placing since 1990.
