Achebe named All-American at the NCAA Indoor National Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Kendrick Achebe jump started the action for the Storm at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships with an All-American performance in the 60m dash.
Ulysses Patterson and Clarke Latcham began their heptathlon events in the 60m dash, followed by the standard long jump, shot put, and lastly the high jump on day one. After the four events, Patterson sits eighth in the standings, while Latcham is 19th The last three events of the heptathlon are scheduled for Saturday, with the top eight in the standings earning first team All-American honors, and 9th-16th are named second team.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Kendrick Achebe earned his first career All-American honors, being named to the second team, after finishing 15th overall in the 60m dash.
- His 6.83 seconds was the second fastest time in school history, only to his school record 6.81 set less than a week ago.
- For both Patterson and Latcham, the high jump proved to be their highest finish on the day. The pair earned top-10 marks, with Patterson taking sixth overall, and Latcham in ninth.
- The highest scoring event for the duo was the 60m dash where Patterson earned 779 points, and Latcham added 742 points.
- Patterson will enter the final day of action sitting in eighth place overall, which places him in line for a first team All-American honor.
