Godar provides spark in opening match for the Storm
INDIANOLA, Iowa - In the opening match of the 2025 season, Henry Godar shined for the Storm, winning his individual matchup against Grand View on Monday.
The freshman Godar began his day in the third doubles pairing with Darek Kayser as the duo nearly took down their Grand View opposition in a dramatic 7-5 result. Godar followed up by claiming his first collegiate win in individual play, taking down Ethan Copic 6-2, 6-2 to claim Simpson's lone point on the day.
Freshmen Hudson Christie and Isaiah Franzen nearly claimed a doubles victory of their own, narrowly falling to Grand View 6-4 in the second doubles slot. Grant Love and Seth Orta combined for the top doubles pairing for the Storm, falling 6-2 in their matchup.
As a team, Simpson fell 6-1 but will have an opportunity to bounce back on Saturday as the men will host both Maharishi University at noon, and Monmouth at 3 p.m.
