Simpson drops season finale to Dubuque
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Taylor Blum scored a game-high 28 points on 10 of 20 shooting as Dubuque beat Simpson 71-67 in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Stoltz Sports Center.
In his final game in a Simpson uniform, Tim Dunlavy scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Storm (6-19, 3-13 IIAC). Zach Barragan added 11 points.
Jeremy Weaks added 14 points for the Spartans (17-8, 10-6).
Simpson jumped out to a 10-point lead on an Anthony Miller layup with 8:11 left in the first half. By the time the horn sounded at the half, the Storm led 37-34.
Dubuque started the second half on a tear, scoring 12 of the first 14 points and taking a 46-39 lead with 15:26 to go.
The Spartans led by as much as 10 in the second half, before Simpson went on a 15-5 run late in the game.
Simpson tied the game on a Robert King layup with 4:09 remaining, but Dubuque scored the next four points and held on down the stretch for the win.
