Four Simpson athletes qualify for NCAA Championships
INDIANOLA, Iowa - Four members of the Simpson women's indoor track and field team competing in five events will represent the Storm at the 2010 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in Greencastle, Ind. March 12-13.
Sophomore Kinsey Bak (Hinton, Iowa/Hinton) qualified in the pentathlon and the high jump, senior Lauren Bucklin (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) made the cut in the 55-meter hurdles and junior Catie Ellingson (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) and senior Sarah Hammel (Dorchester, Iowa/Waukon) join the field in the 800-meter run.
Ellingson also qualified in the mile, but will only run the 800 this weekend.
Hosted by DePauw University, the championships are set to take place at the James A. Hollensteiner Track at the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center. All tickets will be available at the door (cash only). Adult tickets are $6 each day while students, seniors and children ages 2 and older will be admitted for $3 each day. Tickets will be available beginning at 8 a.m. each day near the main entrance to the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
Each of Simpson's four qualifiers have run at a national meet in the past. Bak made outdoor nationals in the high jump a year ago, Bucklin is a five-time All-American, Ellingson is a four-time national qualifier and two-time All-American and Hammel qualified for the 800 at last year's indoor meet.
