Bucklin named IIAC Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – An NCAA provisional-qualifying effort in the 55-meter hurdles at the University of Dubuque Spartan Invitational Saturday, Jan. 30 bolstered Simpson senior hurdler Lauren Bucklin to Iowa Conference Performer of the Week honors in women's indoor track and field, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Bucklin, a senior psychology major, won the 55 hurdles in a time of 8.36 seconds. She also won the 600-meter run (1:43.95) and ran on the runner-up 4x400-meter relay (4:07.70) as the Storm placed second in a 5-team field with 154 points.

A 2006 graduate of Bondurant-Farrar High School, Bucklin is a 5-time All-American in indoor and outdoor hurdle events. She placed fifth in the 55 hurdles at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in 2009, finishing the race in 8.23 seconds. Bucklin currently holds the school record in the event after running an 8.13 at the 2009 Iowa Conference Championships.
