Taylor collects A-R-C Athlete of the Week title

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The American Rivers Conference announced today that graduate student Jenna Taylor has been named Women's Basketball Player of the Week as well as Female Athlete of the Week for the two week period ending Jan. 3.

This is the third time this season and ninth time in her career Taylor has earned player of the week accolades from the league. She has earned athlete of the week honors six times.

Taylor helped the Storm (11-1, 3-0 A-R-C) stay undefeated in the month of December with four victories over winter break, tallying 86 points, 28 rebounds, five assists, and five steals over the stretch. She shot 60.0 percent from the field (36-60) and a team-best 47.8 percent from three-point land with 11 makes.

While in Florida, Taylor had back-to-back games with 26 points and 10 boards to lead Simpson in two dominating wins over Alfred (94-57) and Westminster (99-66) and bring her career double-double mark to 19. She then added 34 points between the Storm's two victories over Wis.-La Crosse (85-82) and Bethany Lutheran (89-76) at the Loras Holiday Classic.

Taylor is two points shy of tying Stacey Schutjer's career scoring mark of 1,388 points amassed between 2008-12 and three points away from moving into sixth place on the all-time scoring leaderboard. She knocked down her 176th triple against Bethany Lutheran to pass Janey Botkins (2016-19) in third place for career three pointers and needs just 11 rebounds to move into fifth all-time.

The Storm will dive into conference action with a home game versus Buena Vista on Jan. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Simpson will then hit the road for three more A-R-C contests before hosting Central (1/19), Coe (1/22) and Loras (1/26) inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
